I Do

Standard

My daughter recently announced she is getting married next May, so this prompted me to post something about marriage.  I am so excited; I love to see two people get married.  If you want to spend the rest of your life with one particular person, and you can totally trust that person, why not get married?  If it’s because of financial reasons, children involved, or just plain being selfish, or any other excuse for that matter, then is it a genuine relationship?  No relationships are perfect, because no two individuals are exactly alike in every way.  The question is, can you live with these differences?  I found this article on:  https://www.psychologytoday.com/basics/marriage.

Who are You?

Standard

You may “think” you know who you are, but do you really?  You may get to a point in life when you want to have a deeper understanding about yourself.  Have you ever asked yourself these questions:  who am I; what am I doing here; where am I going; who and what should I believe?  The truth is you already have the answers.  You have to dig deep, go within, and be honest with yourself.  It might take a while to figure out who you really are, but you will if you express desire.  I strongly encourage you to meditate.  This is when you listen to the divine source and connect with your inner being to get all the answers.

Apology Accepted

Standard

We have all unintentionally hurt someone who put their trust in us.  In order to restore the relationship, you have to apologize to the other person.  True leaders acknowledge or “own” their mistakes.  Below are key components for making an effective, sincere apology:

  1. Respectfully admit you messed up.
  2. Take responsibility for your behavior or actions.
  3. Express remorse and say you are truly sorry.
  4. Ask what you can do (or offer) to make things right.
  5. Promise that it will not happen again.
  6. Make amends.

What NOT to do:

  1. Make excuses or rationalize your behavior.
  2. Downplay the situation by saying for example, “It was just a joke!”
  3. Turn it around and start blaming/criticizing the victim.
  4. Change the subject.

It’s a Juggling Act

Standard

Keeping a balanced lifestyle is important for well-being and happiness.  Do your job, but take time for other activities or hobbies you enjoy doing.  Exercise regularly but get proper rest.  Eat healthy and then every once in a while indulge in a favorite dessert.  Love yourself but don’t be narcissistic.  Stay strong but be humble.  Be confident but not arrogant.  Be kind and willing to help others, but avoid being taken advantage of.  Keep your emotions under control.  When we experience loss, it is normal and natural to grieve as part of the healing process.

Spirituality vs Religion

Standard

The essence of who you are is your spirit, soul, inner being, or life-force.  Spirituality is when you experience a direct connection of your inner most being with the divine power of the universe.

Organized religion is when you follow someone else’s collection of beliefs, customs, and/or rituals.

You can practice spirituality without belonging to a specific religion; you can also be religious but not spiritual; and lastly, you can certainly practice spirituality while belonging to an organized religion.  I recommend doing whatever keeps you aligned with the divine power and on the right path in life.

For Sure

Standard

What do you know for certain?  What can you say, feel, and know in your heart that you are absolutely sure about?  Speaking from my past experiences, the list below is what I know for sure and truly believe:

  • There are many people who are discouraged with life.
  • Your thoughts can create evil.
  • It is hard work and a struggle when you swim against the flow of water (life).
  • Negativity causes health issues.
  • Life is really good and not what you may think it is.
  • You attract who or what you think about.
  • You reap what you sow.
  • You need consciousness to stay in the present moment.
  • Meditation heals your mind, body, and soul.
  • We were put on this earth to help each other.
  • When your intentions are aligned with the source of all creation, you can create the life you desire.
  • Where there is love there is peace.
  • A higher divine power exists and that I am loved.
